Keratoconus: Scleral Lenses are the Solution

Scleral lenses are often used to correct vision problems that can't be corrected with regular contact lenses or glasses, such as keratoconus, which causes the cornea to bulge, and severe astigmatism.

Scleral lenses are a type of contact lens that covers the entire cornea and rests on the white part of the eye (sclera).

They’re larger in diameter than regular contact lenses and are filled with a non-preserved saline solution. The saline fills the space between the lens and the cornea, which helps to keep the lens in place and prevents it from drying out.

These lenses also benefit people with other types of corneal aberrations.
